Welcome to the hub of British Army Open Water Swimming
Lt Col Rob Healey R Signals is now the Army Open Water Swimming (OWS) rep and is looking forward to developing this site as the Home of Army Open Water Swimming.
Open Water Swimming is a rapidly expanding sport which is to be trialled at the Beijing Olympics. It is a tough and demanding discipline which is ideally suited to Service participation - so here we are. Army Open Water Swimming now has it’s own identity under the umbrella of the Army Swimming Union.

On 01 August last year we competed in |

the first ever tri-service Cross Channel relay race, and came a creditable 2nd behind a very strong Navy team. We also raised £16,000 for the Royal British Legion and DiabetesUK. |

The next Channel Eagle will be in 2009 and we’re looking for the team that can win it! |
|
You’ll see from the CHANNEL EAGLE site that swimmers of all abilities and experience took part - and really enjoyed it! We also need solid support - even if you’re not a swimmer but feel you have something to offer we’d be very happy to have you on board! |
|
The next CHANNEL EAGLE will be in 2009 with relay teams from the Army, Navy and RAF racing across the English Channel from Samphire Hoe in Dover to Cap Gris Nez in France, |

Run from Hawley Lake in Hampshire the Royal Engineers organised a great 3 day training camp, including a cracking afternoon at Horsea Salt Water Lake where we became proficient in jellyfish dodging drills! See the pictures here. |
