Hello, I'm Mike.  I'm originally from Swansea and am 33 yrs old.  RAF logo

I'm proud to have been in the RAF for 12 years now and have been working at Headley Court for the last 2 years.

I'm a Physical Training Instructor and also a Complex Trauma Remedial Instructor (RI).

My job is prescribing exercise therapy to the complex trauma/battlefield casualty and amputee patents at Headley.

I was approached to take part in Channel Eagle by Major Colclough as he knew I was a keen triathlete and would jump at the chance!  I'm delighted to be the Team Captain and think we are really in with a chance of winning!

In 2010 I'll be taking part in a double Ironman for Help the Heroes - 4.8 mile swim, a 224 mile bike ride and a 52 mile run.

RobRobHaving been involved with Channel Eagle since the beginning Rob knows what he's in for!

Rob was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 1994 and more recently, with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) - neither condition stopping him taking on this challenge.

The very first Channel Eagle in 2007 started after an 'idle' Robconversation whilst Rob was attending a week long rehab course at Headley Court.Rob  You know...one of those...'wouldn't it be good if'... sort of things....and here we are!

Co-incidentally, swimming is one of those activities considered very beneficial to those diagnosed with AS.  For anyone with Diabetes, just as for anyone without Diabetes, a healthy diet and good level of physical exercise is the basis for a long and happy life.
